Here’s your Tuesdays with…. update for those in need of a kidney transplant and their advocates. You could use the following information and email to family members, friends and post on your Facebook page and other social media outlets. Recently there was an article that highlighted one of the challenges facing someone who wants to donate. Many hospitals require the donor to have health insurance. My insurance will cover all the medical pre and post transplant expenses.

The reason they want the donor to have health insurance is that sometimes during the evaluation process a test needs to be done that has nothing to do with the transplant. If this occurs then the donor’s insurance would be used for that test.

The article points out that some hospitals are willing to accept someone that doesn’t have health insurance.

I want to bring this to your attention. If lack of health insurance is an issue for you I’d welcome discussing how it could be overcome.

Here’s the link to that article:

Can you suggest another way to let others know about your need? Please share it with us by Clicking Here and we will include in in a future Tuesdays With... update.

If you know someone else in need of a kidney transplant or would like to pass this on to your doctor or a dialysis/transplant social worker please provide him or her with this link:

Until next week, we wish you the best in your journey.
