Tuesdays with … November 9, 2015
Here’s your Tuesdays with…. update for those in need of a kidney transplant and their advocates. You could use the following information and email to family members, friends and post on your Facebook page and other social media outlets. You could also include additional information about your health, progress and other activities. If this is your first Tuesdays with… update, click here to learn how to use Tuesdays with… to expand on your Kidney Kampaign.
Here’s what you could send to family members and friends to let them know about this issue.
As I continue to pursue a living donor I’d like to call your attention to a major health problem, high blood pressure.
High blood pressure is the leading cause of heart attacks and strokes, the 2 leading causes of death for Americans. One in every three adults in the U.S., about 70 million people has high blood pressure. About half of these are unaware of their condition.
I know that it is important to control high blood pressure but didn’t realize its impact on health. High blood pressure is also the second leading cause of kidney failure. Diabetes, another condition affected by high blood pressure is the first.
A major study ended more than a year early because it has already conclusively answered a question cardiologists have puzzled over for decades: How low should blood pressure go? This link will take you to the article written about this study.
If you haven’t had your blood pressure checked recently I hope you will do so soon. You could even go to your local fire department to have it checked.
As I know all to well now, having good health is priceless.
Can you suggest another way to let others know about your need? Please share it with us by Clicking Here and we will include in in a future Tuesdays With... update.
If you know someone else in need of a kidney transplant or would like to pass this on to your doctor or a dialysis/transplant social worker please provide him or her with this link:
Until next week, we wish you the best in your journey.
