Did you know that many people would like to donate a kidney but can’t afford to take the time off from work or to pay for the ancillary travel expenses?. Private insurance, Medicare and charities are in place to assist transplant recipients when they need financial help. The American Living Organ Donor Fund has been established and is dedicated to aid American living organ donors so they can assist those who are in need of a transplant. Donating an organ is a life-changing event for a donor as it is for the recipient. Living donors are heroes, and The American Living Organ Donor Fund is raising awareness that donors should get all the financial and social support to lend a hand with the burdens of their donation.
Sadly, every hour an American dies as they do not have a living donor. The American Living Organ Donor Fund has many devoted individuals who are volunteering to help get the organization recognized. The volunteers are a diverse group of people who are donors, transplant patients or advocates. They believe the existing system is unfair to living donors who may not be able to afford travel expenses or taking time off from work to donate. They are going to do everything in their power to help limit the barriers to living donation.
If you or someone you know might be interested in donating, but need financial help for travel expenses or taking time off from work please contact the American Living Organ Donor Fund at: http://www.helplivingdonorssavelives.org
As I continue my path to identify my hero, I am elated there is a group of people who are committed to make a difference for my donor. Knowing The American Living Organ Donor Fund is gaining momentum gives me hope my prospective donor will get the assistance they need while helping me with my need.
Can you suggest another way to let others know about your need? Please share it with us by Clicking Here and we will include in in a future Tuesdays With... update.
