Developing Your Kidney Kampaign: Having Your Donor Find You!!

The fear of asking someone to donate a kidney is one of the greatest barriers for pursuing a living kidney donor. Patients rarely need to ask directly, what they do need to do is to tell their story. If you are effective in telling your story, it’s clear what your need is. Living donors say they volunteered to donate once they heard about their family member or friend’s need.

Workshop & Webinar Overview

The Living Kidney Donors Network (LKDN) workshops and webinars have two goals, to educate you about living kidney donation and to help you develop your Kidney Kampaign by letting others know about your situation.

Who Should Attend

Anyone who needs, or will need a kidney transplant will benefit from these seminars. If there is someone that wants to help you spread the word about your situation, we call them advocates, ask them to attend a workshop or webinar with you. Many potential donors participate in these seminars. The information will help them learn more about the donation process.

Educational Component

The more knowledge you have about living donation, the more confidence you’ll have in talking about it. Over the past few years, medical advances have totally changed the transplant process for the donor and the recipient and you will learn about these changes.

How to Communicate Your Need to Others

Having the knowledge about living kidney transplants is important, combining that with the ability to communicate your need for a transplant will increase the likelihood of finding a donor.
